A little something about me.
Welcome! It can often feel quite daunting when we first decide to find a Counsellor / Psychotherapist. Well done - you are on your way! Allow me to introduce myself; I am Jay Harrison. I have operated within the mental health and disability sector for over 20 years, spending the majority of my career functioning within both Child Safety and Disability Services.
I am interested in supporting you in an empowering way to achieve a sense of 'wholeness' and wellbeing. I believe that we all have this potential. From time to time, we all need a little extra support from someone outside our usual network. Challenging issues will arise along our paths. I look forward to working alongside you to explore the meaning in what is going on for you, and reaching your goals.
I have a great passion and interest in working with all members of our community, especially adults and children who have an Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) diagnosis, and their familiy members. As a therapist I do not perceive the labelled condition as a negative, I view this as an opportunity to develop, or enhance the individuals abilities.
After working for National Children's Homes (NCH) and running a successful business in the UK for many years, my family and I relocated to Australia in 2007 and we have never looked back. Since moving to Australia I have established a children's charity, work alongside child safety clients, domestic violence, and homelessness.
I am an approved provider to deliver several services within the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS):
- Behaviour Support
- Early Childhood Supports
- Therapeutic Support
- Support Coordination
- Specialised Driver Training
